Hey guys. I’m Jeremy Ashburn with Pushleads. Today I’m just answering common SEO questions that clients typically ask me. I’ve been SEO the last 15 years and have my own SEO agency the last five years.

One of the questions that comes up, either directly where they ask me, or indirectly people wonder this when they’re out there just on Google and other search engines, and they wonder this question, “Why does Google matter.” A lot of us know that Google is a really big search engine and it’s been out there for a while and has a good reputation

Search Engines, Back Then

I remember actually way back in 1999 going to school at UNC Charlotte and I was studying graphic design, and there was a Mac lab of about 30 computers. They were all Macs. I remember thinking, “Hey, I want to try different search engines and see which ones deliver results.” I remember actually thinking, “I’m going to try AltaVista that was one of them. Yahoo of course was around then, Ask Geeves, and then there was Google. I remember trying different search engines and realizing that Google just delivered better results. The results were better. They just were better than Yahoo or AltaVista. Ask Geeves that was completely off the mark. I remember thinking, “You know, Google just really does a good job at delivering results that people are looking for, and I remember changing all the search engines from whatever it was to Google because I was thinking, “You know what, Google delivers a better experience for people out there.

Really, what was true 17 years ago, and it’s also true today. Google just delivers a better experience. And because of that Google is the number one search engine out there. Google and YouTube are both the number one search engines out there. Google is really big at delivering results that people are looking for, right when they’re looking for them.

I really love Google because of that. I also enjoy helping businesses be visible and grow at the top of Google. That’s what we do at Pushleads; we help local businesses grow by making little inside tweaks on their website and outside tweaks on their website so that over time all of this adds up to your business streaming at the top of Google.

The way it works is if you’re at the top of Google then people are finding you. Let’s just say that you’re a plumber in Newark New Jersey, and someone’s searching for plumbers in Newark, New Jersey. If they can find you at the top, if there are a thousand people a month looking for that term, then around 400 people will click to your website just from that term every month. 400 people. Of those 400 people, maybe 50 will call you, maybe 30, but still that’s 30 or 50 new calls that you’re getting every month at a local business that you weren’t getting.
